About the Training
Our Puppy Imprinting program is a wonderful way to get a jumpstart on your puppy’s training. It provides an environment that fosters learning and provides the opportunity for proper socialization to ensure that your puppy develops as a well-mannered dog with a balanced temperament.
We train with 100% positive reinforcement methods which is a reward based system that shapes and reinforces behaviours that you want while eliminating the behaviours you don’t want. We do not use any aversive methods and are completely fear/punishment free.
Duration
Puppy Imprinting is available in packages from 2-12 weeks. It is recommended that your puppy stay for a minimum of 2 weeks to allow enough time to instill the training and ensure the best outcome. The longer the stay, the better the outcome.
Expectations
Our focus will be on basic obedience and household manners. Keep in mind that the progress of the training is dependent upon the length of stay.
Your puppy will be introduced to:
Bell training
This is a system to teach your puppy how to signal that they need to go to the bathroom. This method helps instill housetraining, creating the association between the bell and going outside.
Crate training
Crate training does wonders in speeding along the housetraining process. It also teaches your puppy how to be independent and self soothe which, when done properly, helps prevent separation anxiety.
Loose leash walking
It is important to teach your puppy to walk on a loose leash to make the walk more enjoyable for both yourself and your puppy. It teaches your puppy self control and makes walks safer by avoiding the damage to your puppy’s neck when they pull. During their stay, your puppy will learn the basics of loose leash walking through various exercises.
Recall
A reliable recall is one of the most important things to teach your puppy for their safety. You want to know that when you call your puppy to come that they will listen. While in the Puppy Imprinting program your puppy will be introduced to recall exercises to create the basic foundation that you will continue working on progressing as your puppy gets older.
Sit & Down positions
Teaching the sit and down positions helps your puppy learn self control. Your puppy will be introduced to the sit and down positions and begin to understand that they are far more rewarding than jumping. Your puppy will learn that offering these positions in a calm and controlled manner will result in everyday rewards such as meal time, going outside, getting a treat or their favourite toy.
Reminder
It is important to understand that every dog is an individual so there is no guarantee of where they will be at the end of training, but the main goals are to introduce basic training and to instill more calm and controlled house manners while ensuring proper socialization to start your puppy on it’s path to having a balanced, healthy temperament.
Our Guarantee
While in the Puppy Imprinting program, your puppy will be part of the family. They will be in a home environment and have ample time to play and socialize with our dogs. They will have exposure to normal, everyday stimuli and have the freedom that they wouldn’t typically receive in a kennel facility. We treat your puppy like we would our own and ensure that they have lots of love and affection so that they are happy and content while they are away from you.
